Cranberries

Cranberries are a great source of vitamin C for humans and for wild birds.  Though not all wild birds will eat cranberries, there are some fruit eating birds that will enjoy this tasty treat once in a while.  Not only are cranberries a fun addition to mix into your suet cake creation but they add nice color to your bird feeding stations and may attract small critters like squirrels and chipmunks.

We like to buy either fresh or frozen whole cranberries, no sugar added.  We mix them into any suet cake recipe and we like to push them into the top of the suet cakes after it has been mixed to give a nice splash of color and design. Try placing the cranberries in a heart shape by pushing them in your suet cake just before freezing. Get creative.
