Backyard Birds

Are you interested in knowing what types of birds are feeding in your backyard? Depending on where you live, you may see different birds in different zones.  Some of the most common birds you will find your backyard can include:

  • Downy Woodpecker
  • Dark-eyed Junco
  • Northern Cardinal
  • Blue Jay
  • American Goldfinch
  • Tufted Titmouse

Other birds that may also visit your backyard are:

  • Bluebird
  • Blackbird
  • Brown Creeper
  • Baltimore Oriole
  • Sparrow
  • Swallow
  • Wren
  • Towhee

There are so many birds that it is hard to list all of them at once, but if you are really interested in your backyard birds, you can get this book from your local library “Birds of North America” and you can easily identify the birds that are visiting your yard.

Lucky for you, birds of all varieties are interested in bird seed, making it very easy to feed your backyard birds.  Making your own homemade suet is a great way to connect with your neighborhood birds.  Creating specific suet cakes that YOUR birds enjoy eating. Try adding peanuts, wild bird seed and coconut to your You Do It Suet® and see if you attract more or less birds. You can adjust your ingredients as your birds desire.
