Vegan Suet Cake Recipes

vegan-suet-cake-recipe

We get asked all of the time if there is a way to create a homemade suet cake using a fat that is not a meat product. And the answer we always give is, YES! We have many vegans who just LOVE our product and want to know how they can make it work for their lifestyle.

Creating a vegan suet cake starts with Coconut Oil. Although coconut oil is costly, it is the ONLY vegan product that we would recommend using when creating a vegan suet cake and here is why: coconut oil is high in saturated fat, which is better for wild birds and coconut is something that wild birds would eat in the wild anyway, so they are used to it.

Things to keep in mind when creating a vegan coconut oil suet cake:

Temperatures need to be below 40 degrees when feeding a coconut oil suet cake, otherwise it will melt.
Mix in nuts, seeds, peanut butter and more to create a tasty vegan treat!
Store the vegan suet cake in the freezer until ready to use.
Do not handle the coconut oil suet cake too long or it will begin to melt in your hands.
