Suet Cage Placement

suet-cage-tree-attach

The BEST location for a bird suet cage is attached to a tree. So birds can easily stabilize and grab a hold of the tree while eating the suet cake. Especially needed for larger birds such as a hairy woodpecker. Smaller birds such as nuthatches can grab a hold of the suet cage itself, but they like it better if they have something like a tree to grab onto while eating. Just screw the hang chain to a tree trunk for best results. I like to place my You Do It Suet® cakes on the North side of a tree, this way the suet cake will be out of direct sunlight and will last longer. Another advantage to attaching your suet cage to a tree is that raccoon’s will have a harder time taking your suet cage away when they come out at night to feast.
