Suet Feed

Suet feed is a high energy bird food that is the perfect addition to any yard, especially during the cold fall and winter months.

Wild birds have a harder time scavenging for food sources in the winter when the ground is hard and all of the insects and critters hide away to keep warm. Offering suet feed to your neighborhood birds is a great way to interact with local wildlife and to help keep them warm when the weather is chilly. Suet is high in fat and gives a wild bird energy, keeping them warm.

Creating suet feed is very simple, especially if you already cook meat for meals. When cooking ground beef or bacon just drain the excess fat directly into the You Do It Suet® mold.  Mix in ingredients such as:

  • Black oil sunflower seeds
  • Wild bird seed
  • Peanut butter
  • Nuts
  • Cornmeal
  • Dried fruits
  • Eggshells

After you mix the meat fat and the ingredients together place the suet mold in the freezer to set. After the suet cake has hardened release the suet cake from the suet mold and place in any standard suet cage feeder. Place the suet cage in your yard and watch the birds as they enjoy a tasty suet feed treat.
